About Björnlandet National Park
The hiking trails in the park take you through forests, across mires and up onto hills. You can rest or stay overnight in one of the two overnight huts located in the area.
The beautiful ancient pines, the spruce mires draped in hanging lichens, and the clear traces of past forest fires make Björnlandet both a living, dynamic ecosystem and a biological archive, revealing dramatic events from times long past.
Björnlandet National Park is located in hilly forested terrain with natural forest, boulders and steep slopes. The oldest pines, more than 500 years old, the spruce swamp forests draped in beard lichen, and the clear traces of past forest fires make Björnlandet both a living, dynamic ecosystem and a biological archive showing dramatic events from times past.
In Björnlandet, 195 species of lichens have been recorded. Of these, 31 species are red‑listed.
