In the middle of the forest by Svartviken, a glade opens up. This is where crofter Adam Michelsson and his wife Carolina settled in 1857.
About the activity
One night in January 1864 Adam disappeared, presumably after falling through the ice and drowning. Carolina was left alone with three children to support. Many stories tell about her hardships. Today the overgrown house foundation and remnants of a paved cellar serve as a reminder of the severities of crofter life.
