Military history

During World War II barracks were erected for Swedish frontier guards at the border right next to Bodalsviken.

A telephone line was extended. The trail between Rävmarken and Bodalsviken, known as Hallevägen, was well-worn at this time by frontier guards and refugees. A certain amount of secret courier activity also took place at this frontier outpost.

North of Bodalsviken there are remnants of entrenchments that are thought to be from the 1808 war. They consist of a 20-metre-long stone embankment that is about 0.7 metres high and in another place traces of an earth embankment.
