Crofter forest
Ängsö is not only meadows and pastures; large parts of the island are forested. During the crofter period, the forests were used as grazing land and forestry was practised on a small scale.
About the activity
Västerskogen is a fine example of a crofter forest and is well worth a visit. Here you can see how forest grazing and forestry have affected the appearance of the forest, with its large interspersed oaks and old pine trees.
